Early Email #002: Memorial Day

Hi! Kat here πŸ‘‹

It's all about Memorial Day campaigns today.

Let's get to it!

--

Memorial Day is a solemn American holiday.

It's also the first big sale event after New Year's.

Here's how you can get the most out of itβ€”

Step Zero: Inbox placement + Minimize competition

The Promotions tab is not a bad place, but there's a better one: Primary.

Talk to your audience now: Ask them to reply, star your emails, add you to their contact list, move you to primary, etc.

Step One: Priming

The week before, let your audience know a sale is coming.

Send email and SMS campaigns for early access and start collecting SMS numbers.

Step Two: Segmentation

Segment your audience: VIPs, Engaged (L7/L14/L30), etc.

Step Three: Fulfill early access promises

1-2 days before: SMS subscribers only

1 day before: SMS & Email subscribers only

Step Four: Send day of emails and SMS

Morning: Send email and SMS to everyone to announce the sale.
Afternoon: Reminder email (Engaged).
Evening: Last chance (VIPs and Engaged).

Accelerate your abandonment flows.

Day after: No emails

I'm not a fan of extended sales. It breaks the "sale ends today" promise.

If you reaaaaally must, offer something of LESS value than what you offered on Memorial Day.

It's a lot, but think of this as the start of your BFCM prep πŸ‘€

I know you'll crush it!

Next week, we're talking June campaign ideas.

Happy Emailing,

Kat
