eCommerce email sequence deep dive series: Browse Abandonment (3 of 10)

Now that you know the product your reader is interested in, now's the time to serve up some personalized recommendations and enticing offers.

Read the Primer for info on subject lines, length, etc.

Read the VoC guide on how to research before writing your copy.

Why?

  • Personalized service - This is the beginning of a more personalized experience for your reader. Do it right.

  • Increased intent - The reader is now showing more interest, keep the fire burning!

Sample Email

There are three emails in this sequence. Send the first one within 1 to 2 hours of clicking on a specific product (but not adding to the cart or starting checkout).

Sample: Pulp & Press

What makes this email great?

  • It's personalized

  • Relevant recommendations

  • Great placement of "It's a fan favourite!"

I don't like the "we noticed..." copy though. It feels creepy.

How to do it

Three Emails:

  1. Email #1 - Remind the reader to add the item to cart and carry on with their shopping.

  2. Email #2 - Send a day after Email #1 - Introduce an offer here, but with a deadline. "Get X if you buy Y. Offer good until X days." Use a dynamic coupon with a real end time. I repeat, if you're doing a deadline, use a REAL dynamic coupon.

  3. Email #3 - Last email with offer - X hours left (from offer in Email #2). Include reviews, preferably specific to that product.

Make sure you show the product (dynamic, personalized event) in all emails.

Subject Lines

  • You have great taste!

  • You picked a fan favorite!

Hope this helps! Questions?
